So many times I hear this…”don’t build links too quickly or you’ll be sandboxed by Google”
…what a load of crap!
How can that even be possible?
Truly if that was the case (and it most certainly isn’t) then every blackhat xrumer and scrapebox spammer would be blasting the living hell out their competitors and getting them sandboxed. It would certainly beat proper SEO, just blast ‘em and get ‘em off the rankings.
But you don’t see that happening and why is that?
Because there is no sandbox…this is where i insert the matrix clip ‘there is no spoon”
I repeat…”there is no sandbox”
So what really does happen when your site disappears?
On most occasions it’s simply doing the Google dance, and that is Google determining where in the rankings your site should be. It’s still in the Google index but not in the top 1000 results. Your site is still in the Google index. Usually the site come back to a better place in a short while.
In reality, your site can only be either indexed (in the rankings somewhere) or not indexed.
Not Indexed means either:
- Not picked up by Google yet, i.e. the site is new or;
- Probably banned by Google
If you’re site was in Google and now isn’t (i.e. de-indexed) well then you’ve probably been banned for breaching Google webmaster guide lines (found here http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769 )
So fear not people, follow white and some gray hat techniques and you won’t be “sandboxed”, or in reality even de-indexed for that matter…
So why so much talk about the sandbox?
Well let’s face it, it’s usually from gurus who want to sell you some new fang dangled software course and want you dependent on them. They want you to be in fear of doing something wrong!
…what a load of crap!
Everyone fails that’s how we learn. If you haven’t failed you haven’t tried. If you get a site banned, no big deal, hopefully you’ll learn quickly what you did wrong and not repeat the same mistake.
Another reason for the sandbox myth being talked about so much is simply because people are lazy – they don’t want to build links. Building links is boring, so if they tell themselves “oh I’d better not build too many links or I’ll get sandboxed” it’s much easier to sleep at night.
But as we now know or already knew “there is no sandbox” must mean it’s time to build some links eh?
Tip for the Day:
If your site is new and hasn’t been indexed by Google yet, don’t build links to it yet. If Google find a heap of links to a site it hasn’t indexed yet, it’ll set off a red flag that something dodgy may be going on.
If you site has been indexed (use this code in Google.com to find out “site:yoursite.com” ) then get to work, if want to make money online, rank a website or just get more people searching and viewing your content…start building links.
